Bees....just saying the word makes some people swell up and others run in fear. The next time you reach for that can of bee spray think about this: approximately 1/3 of our diets are composed of insect-pollinated crops, with honeybees specifically responsible for nearly 80% of that pollination. Even grazing cattle depend on bees to pollinate their food source.
Some types of crops have a very short window during which they must be pollinated or it will not produce seeds, berries, or fruit. Farmers are prone to losing up to 70% of a given crop without the proper pollinators.
